My father, Alex Abisheganaden, passed away peacefully last night, at 0159 hrs. He was 97.
Dad was an amazing musician, much loved by the many thousands of musicians he mentored and taught, many of whom went on to become top class musicians themselves.
Mr A, as he was known in his music world, was awarded a couple of medals and a cultural medallion for his contribution to music and the arts in Singapore.
I’ve got lots of great stories about my father. Suffice, for now, to say he lived a full life. He has had a great send off by his friends in the last few days. Harps, violins, guitars…. his friends played to him in his final hours as we all celebrated his life.
Funeral on Sunday in Singapore.
He is survived by:
Wife: Eileen Abisheganaden
Daughter: Jacintha Abisheganaden
Son: Peter Abisheganaden
Daughter-in-law: Natasha Mustapha
Grandchildren:
Alexander Koh
Zack Abisheganaden
Zaine Abisheganaden
Asha Abisheganaden

Death Be Not Proud
John Donne
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery.
Thou’art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy’or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell’st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
