Malaysia to compete at FEI World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders

The Equestrian Association of Malaysia held an on-line press conference about Malaysia’s participation at the FEI World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders, which is to be held in Ermelo, Netherlands from 6th to 11th September 2021.

Five young riders and one junior make up the Malaysian team that has qualified to ride in the 2021 FEI World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders.  They are:

  1. Muhammad Faris Haikal
  2. Muhammad Yusuf Luqman
  3. Nur Qasrina Amani
  4. An-Nur Muhammad Imran Eirfan
  5. Anfal Insyirah

The Malaysian team, who will led by team manager Wan Mohd Kamaluddin, will arrive in Holland on 5th September.

It is Malaysia’s fifth participation in these world championships, having participated in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.  Classified as an FEI CH-M-YJ-E 120, Malaysia had a 4th place team finish in 2013, and a 5th place team finish in 2019.

While Malaysia is hoping for a podium finish this time, Kamaluddin said, “Our Malaysian team has had good results in the past, but this time we face strong competition from Netherlands, France and UAE.  There is no target for an individual result.  The aim is for all riders to complete the ride.

EAM Secretary General Dato’ Maj Yap concurred with this sentiment, saying, “Safety is our paramount concern.  To complete is to win.  We wish you all a safe and successful ride.”

EAM President Syed Omar Almohdzar was encouraged by the development and committment of these young riders, and wished them the very best of luck in the running of this ride.
