I was sad to learn of the passing of Marcos Uranga, founder and the first President of the Federation of International Polo, which he led from 1982 to 1997. 

Marcos had also been President of the AAP, from 1983 to 1987, so he was promoting polo both nationally and internationally.

I had the pleasure of playing at his Puerta Vierta ranch in Open Door, Argentina in 2007.

Through the years, I would meet this beautiful man in Buenos Aires, Palm Beach, Tianjin, all the wonderful places that polo was played.  He was always the life of the party.  When polo players were gathered, his famous phrase was, “This is the beginning of a wonderful party.”

Marcos took polo and his wonderful party all over the world.

May his soul rest in peace.
