While we are in Lockdown in Malaysia, we are not allowed to ride. The EAM confirms the government has said there is a RM50,000 fine for any rider or riding establishment that breaks the lockdown law. The saving grace is the belief that this Lockdown won’t last forever. We will return, vaccinated, to riding, competition, and polo, as the rest of the vaccinated world is starting to do.
The Covid crisis has changed equestrian sport in more ways than one. Lockdowns have affected the price of everything, from raw materials to shipping and airfreight costs.
Most of Zack’s Tack’s suppliers has experienced delays in deliveries of raw materials. More remote suppliers can’t get pick-ups from their premises, as freight and courier companies navigate lockdowns or curfews.
The economics of it is that prices have risen, and will continue to rise for the short term, till this pandemic is over.
One product affected by the rise in costs of both raw materials and shipping, is Zack’s Tack’s Technical Jeans. We knew the price would have to rise in 2021, but what we are doing during this MCO 3.0 is offering these jeans at our 2020 prices and giving you free delivery in Malaysia. All you have to do is order online or by WhatsApp.

Anyone who hasn’t heard of Zack’s Tack Technical Polo Jeans with Silicone Grip Strips has really been missing out. I blogged about them some time ago, and so has Wan Ming, for equestrian sport use. They are the best riding/polo jeans ever! With the silicone grip strips, they provide a level of security unmatched in other riding jeans. Being a 4-way stretch technical material, the jeans offer you unparalleled comfort and unrestricted movement.
While they are called jeans, they are actually a technical cotton and lycra woven fabric that are made to look like denim. It is the lycra that allows you the stretch and move as you ride or play polo. Mounting from the ground is no problem as you are not restricted by the jeans.
In addition, the technical material is it made of wicks away moisture from your skin to the surface of the jeans, so that you are kept as dry as possible while you ride. It is actually a material that is used in high-tech riding breeches. Because they are a slim fit it is a hit with equestrian riders too, with some even competing in show jumping in our whites.
Zack’s Tack first had them made for us in white only, for polo. They were so successful that we quickly added ‘blue denim’ and charcoal grey colours. The material actually remained the same. It was only the colour that changed from white to ‘blue denim’ or charcoal grey.
If you haven’t tried these technical riding jeans with silicone grip strips yet, you are really missing out. In my 50 years of riding, I promise you I have never ridden and played polo in anything better.
The silicone grip strips provide a high sense of security to the rider. Whether you are a novice or a vastly experienced rider, you will enjoy the feeling of attachedness, comfort and freedom it gives.
If you are going on-line, it is at ZacksTack.com. Go to the Polo Jeans section.
Zack’s Tack sponsored our Technical Polo Jeans with silicone grip strips for both of the Malaysian squads that played at the 30th South East Asian Games polo in The Philippines in 2019. They players absolutely loved them and have been back for many more. Some clubs have even ordered more jeans with their logos.
