“The reward of the evil is the evil thereof, but whosoever forgives and makes amends, his reward is upon God.” (Quran, 42:40).
I believe that happy people cause less issues than unhappy, toxic people. Happiness is a state of mind, therefore, as Voltaire says, I choose happiness. It is better to forgive and be happy, than perpetuate your own unhappiness to others around you.
In forgiving others it is customary also to ask for forgiveness. Hopefully those I’ve wronged will forgive me, and that God will also forgive my sins before I go (though I am not planning on that anytime soon.)
I have much to be happy for, and therefore I choose to be happy. Sometimes, it is as simple as that.
There are lots of articles about how to choose to be happy, or even subjective well-being. Meditation helps. I shall leave you to explore that yourself.
Here is my father, playing his version of “The Atomic Blues.”
With happiness comes forgiveness. Peace in the world. Or the world in pieces.
