Mobility – Riding For Polo

Here is a Tik Tok that Natasha (Zacks.Tack) created on Tik Tok.  It shows three of our KL Academy of Polo students, Sally Shackleton-Tallis, Linda Lee and Kabir Kannan, doing some movements in my Riding For Polo lessons that I do on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Tomorrow morning I start a group of pony clubbers in a Riding For Polo group.  In these lessons, we will cover:

  • Converting from an equestrian base to a polo style of riding
  • Neck Reining
  • Leg positions
  • Polo seat and the posting canter
  • Polo stops and canter strike offs
  • Polo Stop-and-Turns

While Riding For Polo doesn’t include any lessons on hitting, many riders move on to learning to play polo with lessons on hitting on the wooden horse, then stick and ball lessons on the field.  Once they are confident with their riding and hitting, they are invited to join Friday Instructional Chukkas, which we were really happy to get restarted last week.
