Socially Distanced Sunday Polo

We had a week of polo in the last week of June, followed by a month of rain, to the extent that we could not play a single chukka in July.  Fortunately, it is now August, and we are playing socially distanced chukkas again.   Getting all the horses out for a run was a very good thing on a beautiful Sunday afternoon yesterday.

With no polo in July, I was kept busy running the Gymkhana Games and RSPC Pony Club Camp for KL Academy of Polo.  I’ve am also doing  a series of four lectures about polo, for the faculty staff who teach the Bachelor of Science Equine Management degree that is offered by the University of Technology, Malaysia.

The Recovery Movement Control Order is being tightened as the number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continues to be a worry. Wearing of masks, when not on a horse, is again mandatory at the Royal Selangor Polo Club.

However, sports are being allowed to make recoveries, and other sports such as football and rugby are now allowed full contact.  Polo is surely going to return to normal sooner or later.

Having lost a bit of weight, I have become much fitter and I am hoping we get to play some tournaments this season.
