RMPA did some Rules Seminars at member clubs recently. It is something that I did, some with Shaik Reismann, at the Royal Selangor Polo Club, Taman Equestrian Putrajaya, on the east coast, at the Royal Pahang Polo Club, and in East Malaysia, at the Sabah Polo Association. I updated that PowerPoint with the latest rules, and found I have 67 slides in that presentation. Then I updated a PowerPoint I have used for some years, called Polo Tips & Tactics, and found I have 101 slides there!
This could take some time. Maybe it should become an on-going series of talks, spread over a few days.
Rege Ludwig has written two articles that he has very kindly allowed us you share. They highlight contemporary issues, such as umpiring in his article Confussion, and blocking. I am also helping Rege review a new book he is coming out with. It is excellent for me to read what this icon of polo coaching has to say about riding for polo. His philosophy is that polo takes something from many other disciplines, such as racing, western riding, jumping and even dressage, and puts it all together. Have done many of those sports, I cannot agree with him more. I can’t wait for this book to go into print, so that you can all benefit from it.
Meanwhile, I’ll try and keep these my talks going, so that we can all improve our games.
