The off season has hit hard. No polo since September, and RSPC’s field to be closed till January. I have sent some of my horses for their end of year spell, at the National Stud Farm. They will be there till the new year. I’ll bring them back January, in time for the start to the 2020 season.
The only polo ponies Head Hunters has in work are the ones for sale. Contact me by e-mail if you are looking for a good patron’s pony, a nice pro’s horse or a young one you would like to start yourself.
KL Academy of Polo ponies are doubling down and are doing some riding school duties. We haven’t even been able to stick and ball for the last month, so they might as well learn to give riding lessons. We will do another round of Riding For Polo soon.
I’m in off season mode too. I didn’t ride at all this week, which is a first for me. I did a couple of spinning classes, hit the gym and even went on three days of hill climbing and running in the park. Sometimes I think I am fitter in the off season than during the playing season!
Tonight, I am off to The Argyland. Almost annual pilgrimage. I am there only a week, and only for meetings. I’m not playing there this season as I am not on a buying mission.
While I am there, I’ll be able to catch the Tortugas Open Final, which was postponed to 15th November.
Almost as soon as I get back, I will leave again for the Philippines, where I am an International Technical Official (I.T.O.) at the games, as the assistant TD and Chief Steward. With the other ITO’s we will have 18 days in Calatagan, running the two divisions of polo. Well, we won’t actually be staying in Calatagan. They have us in a hotel that is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. Imagine doing that twice a day. Or not as the case may be.
Here is the playing schedule:
If you would like to attend, it is a ticketed event, but the website that is selling tickets hasn’t included polo yet.
