Things were different on the second day of polo at the 30th SEA Games. The big LED display worked, so we had an electronic scoreboard and a countdown timer display there for all to see. It worked well. The Malaysian team, not so much. They went down 8 1/2 – 5 to a resurgent Philippines. With Brunei winning 7 – 4 against an inexperienced Indonesian team, it means that Sunday’s finalists are not yet determined.
The Philippines has to beat Indonesia on Thursday. If they do, they will have 6 points and enough goal difference to advance to the final. Then the match between Brunei and Malaysia will determine their opponents. Malaysia must win by two clear goals to take the points and overcome the goal difference to rise above Brunei in the order of merit. Of course, if Brunei wins, it is game over for Malaysia.
