I’ve always said low goal is much more dangerous than high goal. All my worst accidents have been in low goal. I proved myself right again on Thursday, when I will knocked off my horse in the game versus Gold Chin. Watch what happens to be in minute 25 to 26, when I cut the corner on my opponent’s neck shot (around 25:40) and claim the line.
That was the end of the game for me.
Note to all polo players – in an emergency situation like that, the rider’s helmet should NOT have been taken off. Moving the head and neck when you don’t know the injuries is very dangerous for the injured person. If there had been neck injuries (and there are) it could have been made worse, and liability would have been with the person moving the head and neck. The helmet and head, and the body of the victim should not have been moved if breathing was not blocked, till the rider could confirm his injuries, or the paramedics took over.
I am in Ipoh this weekend, course designing the MA-ENA Unique Horse Show. I am a little sore, especially my neck and back. And my head hurts.
Good news is that I designed the courses on my laptop long before the accident. Otherwise who know what I might have designed!
